John Elliott Quarrie, the Company Formation Scammer

Reading to avoid this scam. Scam alert, people!

This post will explain to you how I lost $500 to scammer John Elliott Quarrie and this post is to compile complaints against John Elliott Quarrie so that we together can file a complaint to UK fed.

If you are a victim of John's, please submit your evidence and all relevant conversation to vtconcloud@gmail.com.

By April 22, 2017, I have found two other people (Bony and Narola) who had been scammed by John Elliott Quarrie.

How I met scammer John Elliott Quarrie:

I had posted in my blog that I could help local Khmer people withdraw their money via Paypal since in Cambodian people can't receive and withdraw money from Paypal. I charge little % for that service. That scammer John Elliott Quarrie had read the service and sent me the below email on February 26, 2016.

After that email, we also chatted in Whatsapp and Skype, he tried to explain what he does for a living, then I got to know more about him, built trust and that's how I fell into his scam believing that this guy is real. He sent me a copy of his ID card matching his pictures, and I know his local telephone number and knew he stayed in Hang Tep hotel, in Siem Reap. So, I totally believed him.

Before that $500 transaction, he called my mobile number and asked me whether I could help him withdraw $500 daily or $6k a week and he tried to explain his business models. So, it sounds so nice well who does not want the % of $500 daily.

Lucky enough, I did the job only one time and have realized this is a scam. What John did was to ask me to request for payment in Paypal from Bony, who owns Tech United 247 and who later I realized was another victim of this scammer John Elliott Quarrie. Bony had to pay $1550 as a part of the agreement with John before offering service to John's company. $1000 was sent to John via credit card and $550 was sent to John via Paypal (my paypal account)

I requested for payment from Bony in Paypal as commanded by John. Bony then sent $550 (deduct $25 paypal transfer fee) to me and I forwarded $500 to John Elliott Quarrie via eMoney (local money transfer). Why only $500? Because I had received only $525 and I had to charge my % service fee and thus, I forwarded $500 via eMoney to John. John used the hotel manager to be the receipient of the emoney transaction. Thus, the Khmer hotel manager came to pick up payment from emoney and confirmed receive.

All was okay and looked like a normal deal I used to do for other people. It was quiet for about a week. Then, on March 9, Bony sent another email to John and kept me in the loop.

By then, Bony mentioend that John Elliott Quarrie had stopped responding to Bony, and Bony who sent me the $550 later filed for a refund in Paypal since John had scammed him. Not only this $550, but Bony also filed for a chargeback at his credit card company for his other $1000.

I do not mind Bony when he requested for a refund in Paypal, since he was also a victim and he just wanted all his money back. I explained to Bony a few times until he believed that I am not a scammer although I received money on John behalf and I only earned my % and I should not lose $500 for nothing. Bony started to realize that we are both victim, pitied me and promised to offer $200 to compensate my loss by John the scammer. That means I still lost another $350 as the refund was $550.

Since Bony filed a dispute in Paypal asking for a refund, it was taking almost 10 days before Paypal decided whom to give the $550. By that time, John still responded to me and asked me to wait for the result in Paypal dispute. He kept saying that he is not a scammer and would be responsible for my loss because it was his error. He would return the $550 to me. At the same time, he also tried to explain to me about his businesses and asked me to work for his LiveNews5. I'm pretty sure this guy only waited for another chance to scam me more.

I kept on chatting with John in Skype as I had to wait for Paypal dispute result. I also begged John to return my $500 in advance so that I could afford the expense of my family until the end of April. You see, I'm begging for my own money. I also mentioned that I would return John another $500 if I win the Paypal dispute and if I don't win, I'll just keep the money since he said he is responsible for his error, but he did not agree and asked me to wait for the Paypal result and report to him.

On April 20, 2017, Paypal released the result in favor to Bony. Thus, I sent two emails to John and also asked him in Skype. By now he does not respond.

So, John no longer replied to both me and Bony. Is he a scammer yet? Yes, he took my $500 and he was trying to take $1500 from Bony. Absolutely, yes he is a shameless 50 years old British scammer.

During my waiting time, I also did research about John and found a few notorious work he had done before.

1. Forming companies to scam your money:
By now I have to explain to you more about John the scammer and his fake companies. His scam involves forming companies and gathering investors or techies to pay for contracts before working with him. I also heard complaints that he asked other to work but did not pay for service. Only later that I realized he opened and closed more than 97 companies.

Flexyhotels.com is a website that will never launch. John would explain to you the details about flexyhotels by sending you a Word file and also ask you to read a post in LinkedIn and it is so detailed that it somehow grabs your attention. It also shows how it interlinks to his other businesses and prove that it's going to work and once in a while would tell you it will launch next week, and that next week a few more times to come. On February 27, 2017, he said this FlexyHotels.com would launch next Monday but it didn't, a few more times until April 22, 2017, this website never takes off although he repeated his shitty words. This website is probably only to wait to get more investors or scam more people since he also sells shares of the company.

Each company below belong to John and it has its way to make money. He tried to get me to work for his LiveNews5 and explained that I would earn $10000 a month. LOL He himself said he used to be multi-millionaires. Really. Just another shameless British hiding in a foreign country.

More complaints in online forums about John Quarrie.
This name has been scamming since 2004. Well, I'm not saying this is the same John. It's just coincidence enough, John mentioned in the link below scammed through investment, asking people to buy shares which is similar to Flexyhotels's concept, and the name happened to be John Quarrie. Just coincidence maybe, you decide. You will have to read link below to see the scam.

http://www.talkgold.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7813&page=3

Below is another forum way back in August 2004. Again, I'm not saying this is the same John Quarrie, but it happens to be the same name and people in the forum did mention about OrangeCheck which was similar to above post. One user also talked about buying shares and refund the share. Basically, it's the same thing as what he is promoting these days with his flexy hotels. Probably, not the same John, you decide.

A comment I found under real John Elliott Quarrie's LinkedIn post
Article posted by John Quarrie and commented by Narola Manish

I then added Narola in Skype and chatted to him. He still did not get his money from John Elliott Quarrie and that happened back then in 2014.

After all, these negative comments about John Elliott Quarrie, be aware not to get into business with this shameless British scammer.

Scam alert!!! John Elliott Quarrie, British, born on October 19, 1967. Last known location: Hang Tep Hotel, Siem Reap, Cambodia. His telephone numb: +855 9657 592 45

John is still quiet. Not being responsible for the lost money.

I sent an email to Hang Tep hotel last night providing this post link for him to read and explained about John's scam. I also gave them my phone number if they want to talk.

Today at 09:00 AM, the hotel manager called me and also told me that John has owed the money to the hotel as he's been staying but has not paid the room fee. The manager called the police to make an agreement that he has to pay before packing and leave the hotel. So, by now you know he's still able to scam more people since he is not in jail.

The hotel manager also said that now John looks half-wit and hang out with gay friends. He will definitely ask John to leave when he has paid up. And I also explained to the manager about John's scam and about two other victims.

Well, John is heading to that direction.

Today I also sent email to the UK embassy and also contacted them in facebook page. No response from them in the email, but I got response in facebook.

02/05/2017 Update:
John talked to me on the day I posted this post and he asked me to delete this post and he would consider returning my $500.

He kept saying that he did not scam since Bony did not give John any money as John did not receive that $1,000 via credit card. John did not know what a chargeback mean.
He needs to see a successful scam to call it a scam. So, here if you read, John, it is called a failed attempt to scam. It's still scamming people though.

John told me to revert the post and I did. I reverted the post to draft once again until Saturday, April, 29, 2017 so he could arrange money to pay me. I gave him that chance. I also told him I would delete this post permanently if he returns my money. By Saturday, the 29th, he did not return the money.

He asked me to wait till Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017, so here is his second chance to return the $500 that he took from me. If he did not, then this post is back live.

John who keeps saying he is not a scammer but never wish to return my $500 that he took.

22/05/2017 Update:
John sent me update that he would send me $125 two or three times, to make it $550. However, he did not send me a cent. Since the day I reverted this post into draft, he kept telling me that he would return my money, but did not do it.

He even said he gave cash to his friend to send to me via e-money, but did not. At the end of the day, scammer is scammer.

Phnom Penh to Bangkok by Bus

There are a lot of options for travelers to choose when it comes to traveling from Phnom Penh to Bangkok. I myself experienced in travelling both by air and road to Bangkok. When it comes to travelling on the road, I have to be aware because different means will lead to high or low range of comfort and time spent for travelling. Now let’s say bus is your option, and here I am going to tell you one of the best bus options that you should consider.
Nattakan is a Thai bus company that cooperates with Rith Muny transportation company in Cambodia. Thus, when you choose this bus, you will have to buy its ticket at Rith Muny office which is nearby Gloria Jeans riverside. It costs $25 per ticket if you buy in Phnom Penh; and it costs 750 Baht when you buy 1 ticket at Mo Chit bus station.
PP to BKK:
  • 06:00 to 09:30 – Leave Phnom Penh and arrive Pursat.
  • 09:30 to 10:00 – Have breakfast at Pursat Cambodia-Japan friendship restaurant.
  • 10:00 to 14:00 – Arrive Poi Pet
  • 14:00 to 14:40 – Take 40 minutes at the immigration office
  • 14:40 to 16:00 – Travelling on the road to Bangkok
  • 16:00 to 16:30 – Thai bus driver stopped for dinner (It won’t happen all the time)
  • 16:30 to 19:30 – Arrive Bangkok at Mo Chit bus station
BKK to PP
  • 05:00 – Leave Mo Chit bus station
  • 07:00 PM – Arrive Phnom Penh
Pros:
- 1 stop only at Pursat for brunch
- Only 1 direct bus, no transit
- There is a toilet in the bus. Pee pee poo poo is not a problem.
- Short distance to walk from immigration office to find this bus
- Save time (about 1 to 2 hours) and energy (not cramped) as you will arrive at 7:30.
- Comfortable to sleep
- It’s more spacious, easy to sit, and better behaved people prefer it, so eventually the feeling is better too.
- There is no need to walk and find another van at the border and pay extra 250 Baht.
- It provides free evening meal and drink on the bus. So, we could save lots of time without stop from Aranyaprathet to Bangkok.
- Free snack and beverage in the morning, packed fried rice (EzyGo) to be delivered in the afternoon. It is included when you pay the $25 bus ticket.
- Thai drivers tend not to stop for picking up passengers. They are ready to go at 06:00 even with 3 passengers.
- No need to wait for bus to be filled to go on from the border because only those who bought in Phnom Penh could continue going from the border.
Cons:
Bad point is the bus stop is at Mo Chit Bus Station. You will have to take taxi or BTS to the central. It cost my family 130 Baht to get from Mo Chit Bus Station to Asoke area. Probably, you can take Uber for cheaper transport.
- On your way back, the bus leaves Bangkok at 05:00 in the morning. Not at 06:00 in the morning like when you travel from Phnom Penh to Bangkok.
- Khmer drivers tend to stop quite often to pick up more passengers, but it is not too bad. I managed to arrive Phnom Penh at 07:00 PM.
- Spend about 150 Baht more on taxi from Mo Chit to your hotel.
- Not easy to travel for some Khmer as they need to be dropped at DD House.
Below is some photos:
This is a picture of the Nattakan bus from Phnom Penh to Bangkok.

After purchasing the ticket, you have to find Platform 106 and wait there.

เขียวหวาน Icecream Terrarium (Kiao Wan Ice cream Terrarium)

เขียวหวาน Icecream Terrarium (Kiao Wan Ice cream Terrarium) was founded in early 2016 by P House and Mamiao after the two fell in love and started the shop together. I do not recommend the shop only because they are my friends but the ice cream they serve is addicted!
Owner:
Kiao Wan was initially started by P House as Hthroughheart ice cream shop at Khao San Road. P House met Mamiao for the first time on their trip to Kanjanaburi on March 21-22, 2015; the two fell in love and started the shop Kiao Wan.
Inspiration:
Kiao Wan means Sweet Green. It's the shop that serve ice cream that is so natural and good for health. The ice cream shop's name also has the word Terrarium. So, it was also inspired by the self-sustaining plants which has its own eco-system. This shop uses terrarium as decoration.
Ice Cream Flavors:
There are flavors that are there everyday and there are Unknown ice cream types in which guests can give a try because the lovebird owners always mix ice cream in a mysterious way and call it Unknown. You will have to guess what you are eating. :D And when you first step in, don't be shocked. You will be given a little of all ice cream types to taste and order the one that you like best.
Probably, I do not have to describe much about flavors, I'll give you loads of flavor photos ...

Cambodian to Receive and Withdraw Money from Paypal

If you are interested in this topic, you might have been introduced to Paypal and already knew that there is a bottleneck with Paypal when you want to do online business in Cambodia, because in Cambodia, we can only send money out, but not receiving or withdrawing money from Paypal.

You might also have been introduced to using fake address abroad, let say an address in America or in Thailand to register a new paypal account, then register another account in Payoneer to get a master card so that you can withdraw your money from ATM machines. If you are happy with that option, you can do that too.

However, here I am introducing my Paypal Withdrawal Service.

Lazy to read? Ask me directly.
Facebook Messenger
Lazy to communicate? I got all covered below:

Withdrawing money from Paypal in Cambodia is an absolute pain. That is why we create this service to serve you. we do hope that you all can withdraw money from Paypal just like we do in the nearest future, but for now let me assist and make small profit out of this service during this transition time.

We are providing this service for 5% (of your final money) per transaction.

*Final money refers to the amount received after conversions and transaction fees.

**** We look for partnership, not one-timer; thus, if you think 5% is too expensive, you can opt in for a flat rate at $10 per month without limiting how many times you would like to withdraw in a month, but you will have to pay us annually in advance ($180/ year) ****

How it works:

As described below is a fact that we assisted our clients to withdraw their money.

Say, you would like to withdraw $305 from your Paypal account. Then, you will need to send us the amount. Paypal will charge the transfer fee, and for this case, it is $12 (If you choose this option "Send to Friend", then the transfer fee is a lot less than this. You will have to cover the transfer fee.

When my Paypal account receives your amount, we will see the amount in USD still. Then, we will send the amount from my Paypal account to my Thai bank account (Conversion no. 1). For this case, $305 equaled to 10,265.64 Baht. - Check rates here.

Usually, it takes 6 days to receive the amount in my Thai bank account. Please be patient.

Now I can see the amount in my Thai bank account

The amount in my Thai bank account is in Thai Baht (10,265.46 Baht). So, when I go to ATM machine, it will convert to USD (conversion no. 2)

I withdrew $300 just to check the Thai Baht rate. So, by now don't get confused why I did not withdraw $305. Below was how I did it.

According to the withdrawal receipt:
$300 = 10,587.00 Baht
Then, 10,587.00 Baht divided by $300 equals to 35,29
The conversion rate was 35,29
Your money I received was 10,265.46 Baht
Then, 10,265.46 divided by 35.29 equals to $290.88 (This is your money after 2 conversions)

I charge 5% per transaction:
Thus, $290,88 minus 5% ($14.54) equals to $276,34
In total, you spend $317 ($305+$12) to get $276,34

You should be alerted also transferring from Paypal to Thai bank account is usually free if the transfer amount is more than $250 per transaction. If it's less, they would charge you 50 Baht per transaction.

All is done within 6 days. No magical way.

I will transfer your $276,34 via Aceleda Unity, Cathay United Bank or Canadia Bank to you. Transfer fee will deducted from you. Basically, I earn $14.54 commission. If you withdraw regularly, then you might want to consider a flat rate $15 per month with us. Currently, we are doing this for one client, but you will have to pay annually that means we need $180 upfront. This $180 cannot be refunded for any reasons.

I can also send the money to you via Wing, eMoney or other money transfer agencies. However, I would allow you to use this option after clearly know one another because scammers might send me the money in Paypal and claim for a refund in Paypal after they have received the amount from money transfer agencies. For bank transfers, I can complain to the bank if you wish to cheat me.

Also, in Paypal, I only accept the money from you so that I keep you hold full responsibility when one requests a refund afterward. I do not request for payment from your clients on your behalf, and then forward the money to you because in Paypal if your client is not happy with your service or product, they will ask for a refund, and that should not be me who is responsible for a refund since you are the one who provides them service and yet you already got the money from me via bank transfer or agencies.

If you are new and wish to use my service, please send me a copy of your identity card, passport, family book, a link to your company, or facebook profile, or anything that I can use to identify the real you.

Want your money fast?
We can send your final money on the same day if you are willing to pay 12% commission. Why higher commission? Because you have the privilege to use our money first, while your money has not arrived in our bank account. One more thing, if you opt in for this option, we will rely on the today conversion rate.

As you can see, I have received USD 6,919.00 by April 18, 2017. I have received most of the amount as 4 clients use my Paypal withdrawal service. And yes it included my personal income.

Query at: 081 688 555 or via email vuthychour@gmail.com (Do not send money to this email)

What our clients say about us:

"Vuthy is a reliable and nice person. I used his PayPal Cambodia Withdrawal Assistance Service. He acted fast and provided me good service. I will surely use him again in the future." - Norindra Abbe, from Lingua Cambodia

Bank Loan Conditions at Mega Int'l Commercial Bank

Decades ago, when one borrows from a bank, that person might want to hide because it's a shame to borrow from bank. However, it's becoming a trend to buy something with mortgage or loan.

Some persons even think that one must be rich to be able to borrow from a bank, because bank does not give you money easily. You will need to have hard title deed of a property and a concrete income.

In this post, I am going to explain to you step by step on how to request for loan from Mega Bank in Cambodia and what documents they need before they grant you the loan.

First of all, you will have to contact its loan officer. For my case, I contacted Sreyneang and asked her for more information. She told me the details and the documents she might need before answering a YES or NO to your loan. It took my family 4 to 5 weeks before I have been granted the loan.

So before answering, Sreyneang asked what properties I have in place so that she can come to assess. My dad agreed to put his house title deed as collateral so that we can request for loan of USD 120,000.

She came to my house and check the conditions and locations of the house. She also came to my mum's store at Orussey market to assess the business. She came to assess these properties, but what we put for collateral was only house title deed.

They ask you to make photocopy of your business patent, house title deed, income, ID cards, family book, etc. At this point, she only needed a photocopy, later she will keep the authentic house title deed. I'll let you know when in the below paragraphs.

Loan officer will call and inform you about your loan grant and then you will need to proceed the following:

- $150 for property valuation (Sreyneang came to assess, but she still needs it assessed by professional. So, I had to pay this amount to CPL Cambodia Properties Limited).

Later, when you have the Property Valuation Book in hand, and gave the to bank, the loan officer will call you for an appointment before a lawyer. When you arrive the bank, you will have to pay as following:

- $100 for open new account (We will have $100 deposit in that account)
- $200 for lawyer fee
- $250 burden fee at cad astral survey (At this time, loan officer will keep your house title deed and let cad astral survey record the title deed so that it cannot be reproduced during loan) (It takes up to 10 working days)
- Not compulsary: Extra $300 if you need a fast service from cad astral
- $10 for ID
- 0.5% to 1% processing fee. For my case, the bank deducted $600 from my $120,000 as it was 0.5%.

It will take 7 to 10 days to wait for response from cad astral survey. Then, you are ready to get your money. In total, for my case, I spent $1,310 before getting my loan and it took me about 6 weeks.

I also gave the loan officer $100 as tip. It isn't compulsory.

If you have experience with other loan and wish to share, please do so in the comment box :)

By the way, the interest rate that I got 6.75% per $10,000 per year (Special rate, indeed). For normal rate, it is $75 per $10,000 loan. In this situation, I find Mega Bank one of the best banks for loan.

Hotels to stay nearby BTS and MRT in Bangkok

There are hundreds of hotels in Bangkok in which you can find in a blink of an eye. However, only if you have stayed at those hotels that you realize how convenient it is. For this post, I am going to introduce you to two hotels which locate in a great location for a reasonable price.

1. Red Planet Hotel, Asoke Bangkok

Red Planet Hotel Asoke is a popular hotel among tourists as it's located just 100 meters from Asoke BTS station and it's also 100 meters from Terminal 21 shopping mall. This hotel room is generally booked. So, be well planned and book before others if you plan to travel in Bangkok.

It's hotel cost is around $30 to $33 per night for 2 people if you book via Red Planet Hotels homepage or via Agoda. Normally, you can get 10% discount if you are a Remembered customer which mean you are a returning customer. So, it's best to book via its homepage, rather than via Agoda. Children aged below 4 years old could stay for free if you don't request for anything extra.

I recommend this hotel because it's convenient to travel from one BTS Asoke to other tourist attractions. For example, if you want to go to Siam paragon, you can just take BTS Asoke to Siam BTS station at ease. BTS is specially popular among Thai people as the traffic is congested and it saves time too.

Read more details and book now!

Inside the hotel is not so spacious, but it guarantees its cleanliness and sleep comfort. The room is definitely for two people as the each of twin bed is enough for one person.
Its twin bed

There is an app of this Red Planet Hotel for you to book too and there are many branches of Red Planet Hotels. You may browse through for a Red Planet Hotel before you travel to a country. It is not only for you to book, but also to ask friendly staff about services and attractions in Bangkok.

2. D Varee Xpress Hotel Makkasan Bangkok

This hotel is a three-star hotel, it is located on new Petchaburi road and about 100 meters from Petchaburi MRT. You can use this MRT and connect with BTS at Asoke BTS Station (connected by Makkasan MRT).

This hotel is generally expensive. It could cost up to $151 per night, but if you book via Agoda, it you might get up to 75% discount at $28 per night.

There is a price for free breakfast also, but I did not choose this option since I wanted to walk around and try street food.

I used to stay at this hotel in January 2016 and found it convenient to travel via MRT too. The room is big and incredibly clean. This hotel is 600 meters away from Red Planet Asoke Hotel. It could take up to 20 minutes to walk to Red Planet Hotel.
